The Cambridge Bag is a minimalist waxed canvas purse with five pockets and an adjustable crossbody strap.  It can be made in two sizes, with a canvas or leather strap.  The large size is a great everyday purse, and the small bag is perfect for when you just need to carry the essentials.

This is a measure-and-cut pattern. All pattern measurements are in inches (imperial).

  • Exterior Fabric - Waxed Canvas
  • Accent Fabric - Cotton
  • 3/4 yard Lining Fabric
  • Fusible Woven Interfacing (EB-Fuse - Light)
  • (1) 36" zipper* for front pocket and top closure (to be cut to pattern specifications)
  • (2) 3/4”-wide d-rings, (2) 3/4”-wide swivel snap hooks AND (1) 3/4”-wide strap slider 
  • Rivets - 7 small, 4 medium
  • Leather straps, and leather piece to cut Rivet Washers

    Finished Size:

    • Small Bag:
      • 8 1/2” tall, 9” by 2” at the base. 
      • 9” main zipper opening
    • Crossbody strap extends from 33” to 56”

     

    Paper Pattern Includes: 
    • 5.5" by 8.5" full-colour booklet
    • Inserts for pattern piece labels and leather templates

 

Additional supplies + tools needed: 

Polyester thread, water-soluble pen/tailor’s chalk, cutting mat, ruler, rotary cutter, size 14 or 16 denim or Microtex needle, glue pen or Washaway Wonder tape (double-sided tape).

NOTE: The kit does not include thread. A rotary cutter, ruler, & mat are required to cut the fabric and interfacing.
